Interim CEO Arrives at CMH

Brian E. Dietz has been appointed as the Interim CEO at Cheboygan Memorial Hospital (CMH). He hails from Plymouth, Indiana and specializes as a healthcare leadership consultant. Dietz takes over for Barbara Cliff who announced in March that she has accepted a position as President/CEO at a rural hospital in western Pennsylvania.

“Brian is a senior healthcare executive with over 27 years of experience in the healthcare arena, including positions at many different locations across the Midwest. Our board has determined that he has the proven ability to successfully champion and lead strategic initiatives as the Interim CEO for our Hospital,” said Sue Eno, Chair of the CMH Board of Trustees. “Beginning May 11, Brian will be working at CMH strictly on an interim basis. He will stay as long as it takes to identify and hire a new President/CEO.”

Cliff began working at CMH as the Vice President of Clinical Services in August of 2002 and was named the President/CEO in August, 2005. She will be working with Brian for a few days as he transitions in the CEO position. There will be an Open House Tea for Barb Cliff on Wednesday, May 13 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Hospital’s dining room. It is a chance for staff and the community to wish her well on her last day at CMH.

“Barb has done an exceptional job of managing CMH through some very challenging issues and difficult economic times. She has also implemented several new and innovative programs to improve access to services while increasing awareness of many health-related issues,” said Eno. “It has been my privilege to have worked with Barb. On behalf of the Board of Trustees, we wish her the very best in her new position.”

“It has been an honor to be in a leadership role at this outstanding hospital. I will miss the fine doctors and staff that make this place so special,” said Cliff. “I will continue to make myself available to Brian and the Board of Trustees at CMH during this time of transition.”
