CMH Good Samaritans

The Good Samaritan Award was established in 2002 by the CMH Development Council as a way to honor individuals for their contributions to health care and the community. Those selected have made a major difference in the community through service and support, and have paid particular attention to improving health by championing the Hospital.

Pictured are the recipients of the 2009 Good Samaritan Award, (left to right) - Richard & Janet Rzemien, and Rita Wheelock, along with Michele Andrews, Chair of the CMH Annual Support Committee. The presentations were made by Andrews at the Development Council's Annual Ice Cream Social, August 12 at the CMH cafeteria.

Here's a little more information on this year's recipients:

Rita Wheelock – A former teacher, Rita has been volunteering over 18 years at CMH. She’s been a very valuable asset to the Hospital, donating many hours in a variety of volunteer services as well as being a long time member of the CMH Auxiliary. Besides her ties with CMH, Rita is also very involved with volunteering for the Cheboygan Catholic Community.

Richard & Janet Rzemien – The Rzemiens have been involved in many different facets at the Hospital. Over the last six years, Janet has helped answer phones, done clerical work and now assists in the Pharmacy. She also serves as a member of the CMh Community Relations Committee. They have both helped at blood drives and Dick has become a familiar face at the Information Desk the last four years. Volunteering at CMH is just one of the many ways this couple has contributed to the community. They are very active with several organizations including their church and the Opera House.
