Affiliation Discussions

Approximately 90 people attended the Community Forum, November 11 at the Cheboygan Memorial Health Center. The crowd heard updates from Brian Dietz, President & CEO of Cheboygan Memorial Hospital, and Tom Mroczkowski, President & CEO of Northern Michigan Regional Health System in Petoskey on the status of affiliation talks between the two organizations. During the hour-long program, members of the audience were invited to ask questions of the two leaders.

Among the highlights: the two sides expect to make a decision on whether or not to pursue affiliation by the end of this year; affiliation would be in place by March 31, 2009; and Northern is in serious talks to align with the Spectrum Health System based in Grand Rapids; CMH would keep its board and local autonomy, within the umbrella of Northern Michigan Regional Health System.
