Riley Named Interim CEO

CMH has announced the appointment of Carolyn Riley, BA, MHA as its interim chief executive officer (CEO) beginning Monday, April 19, 2010. Riley will be assuming the duties of Brian Dietz who will be leaving the area to pursue other opportunities. “Brian has done an outstanding job in leading the hospital through some very serious financial challenges since his appointment in May, 2009,” said Sue Eno, Chair of the CMH Board of Trustees. “We believe that Carolyn will be very instrumental in leading us through the next several months as we begin our search for a permanent CEO who will help fulfill our mission for the future.” Riley is a senior health care executive with over 20 years experience in rural and Critical Access Hospitals. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree, along with a Master of Science, Hospital and Health Administration from the University of Alabama. Carolyn hails from Huntsville, Alabama but has also worked in many different regions of the country in health care leadership roles and is with B.E. Smith, the same consulting firm as Dietz. Riley’s experience proves that she has the ability to move CMH forward in its affiliation discussions with Northern Michigan Regional Hospital. She will also be responsible for continuing the financial turnaround and play a key role in achieving approval of the application already submitted by CMH for Critical Access Hospital designation, which will result in enhanced reimbursement.
